The Samarian Region is part of the Central Hill Country and most of its territory is mountainous.
To the north, it is bordered by the Jesreel Valley and the southern Judean Mountains. To the east its is bordered by the Jordan Valley and the western part of the Sharon region.
Most of the region has been transferred to the control of the Palestinian Authority, and there are also Jewish settlements controlled by the State of Israel
